MS Gratings
A grating is any regularly spaced collection of essentially identical, parallel, elongated elements. In Iron & Steel Industry a grating is a collection of iron bars (the identical elongated elements) held together (to ensure the bars are parallel and regularly spaced) by a lighter iron frame.
Grating has brought its wider notoriety in the world’s industrial fields, especially in construction aspects of urban architectural design, due to its dead weight to load bearing capacity ratio being much less than that of concrete slabs and chequered plates. Moreover gratings have improved appearance, ruggedness and are cost saving.
Application for Steel Gratings :
- General Industrial Plants: steel plants, iron foundries, cement industries, petro-chemical plants, textile plants etc.
- Ships & Ship Building Dock: boiler rooms, engine rooms, pump rooms etc.
- For Flooring & Stair Treads: petro-chemical plants, hydraulic power plants, steam power plants etc.
- Roads: various drainage pit covers, side trench covers etc.
- Bridge: side way of bridges, platforms etc.
KMC can supply their customers with gratings having greater load bearing capacity than concrete slab or steel chequered plates. Our design also offers excellent ventilation and light admission, since 85% of our grating area is open. Our gratings also offer you unlimited Floor Space Index (FSI).
Key Features of KMC Gratings:
- Easy to install and replace.

Plain Conventional Gratings:
Due to its lightness, durability and unlimited load bearing capacity our plain conventional gratings is the ideal product for all your projects. We fabricate top quality gratings using premium quality raw materials, as per the stringent specifications of our client. Our plain conventional grating is a rigid and uniform material. Hence, it is able to adjust to a wide range of forms and cuttings, while retaining all its properties.
Applications:
- Flooring
- Stair treads (For step & landing)
- Drain or gutter gratings
- Circular gratings for chimney
- Walkways
- Bridges
- Assembly lines
Honey-Comb Gratings:
The robust constructions of our honey-comb gratings are ideal for usage in areas bearing high temperatures. Our skilled workers fabricate honey-comb gratings from top quality raw materials using latest techniques. We offer a wide range of honey-comb gratings in different specifications as per our client requirements.Honey-comb gratings offered by us have greater tolerance, more impact resistance, dimensional accuracy and flawless finish.
Applications:
- Flooring
- Stair treads (For step & landing)
- Drain or gutter gratings
- Refractory concrete
- Walkways
- Bridges
- Assembly lines
Serrated Gratings:
Serrated gratings are also known as anti-slip grating which has been designed especially for walkways, platforms, and wash bays in wet, oily and icy areas. In this type of gratings, alternate load bars are replaced by round bars to reduce overall weight while still fulfilling the requirement of a maximum opening size of 15mm.KMC anti-slip grating is popular due to its strength, light weight, cost-efficient production and ease of installation. Moreover, this type of grating also has non-slip characteristics and no sharp edges to meet safety requirements. Our serrated gratings are available in all sizes. We can further customize shapes and sizes of serrated gratings to meet our client requirements.
Applications:
- Offshore oil platforms
- Refineries
- Wash bays
- Walkways
- Sewage treatment plants
Finishing of Gratings:
As per our client requirements our grating are finished in the following ways:
- Hot Dip Galvanizing: We provide our clients with hot-dip galvanizing following process & testing according to IS-2629 & IS-4759
Since, galvanizing requires surface preparation the grating is cleaned by acid cleaning or pickling. The cleaned grating is then completely immersed in a bath of molten zinc. The bath has 99.9% pure zinc maintained at 435-455 degrees. Our galvanized product has a coating thickness minimum of 86 micron i.e. 610gm/m2 of zinc deposition.
- Powder Coating: Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free flowing dry powder. Powder coating does not have a liquid carrier, hence it can produce thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings, without running or sagging.
- Red oxide primer coating: Red oxide primer is a specially formulated coating used as a base coat for ferrous metals. Red oxide primer is an anti-corrosion coating designed to stop rust formation.
Red oxide primer coating requires surface preparation as a clean surface ensures that the paint applied adheres properly. Cleaning is done by manual tools, paint scraper, wire brush. Sometimes grit blasting is also necessary.
Application of red oxide primer is either done by dipping process or air spraying.
Our Requirements from our Client :
- Load Bearing Capacity.
- Size & Profile.
- Place of Usage.
- Bare, Painted, Galvanized or PVC Coated.
Furnish us the aforementioned data and leave the rest to us. We pledge to design economic gratings for you.
